The Blue Moon is about be 78 years old and they are ready to party! It all starts tonight! 5 nights of music, in a row! Here is the complete lineup:

The Blue Moon had this to say about us on their blog, “No local band is better at combining beefy pop with brainy lyrics.” Ain’t that the truth. WE are super excited to be included in the festivities and WE sincerely hope that everyone can join us.

Having just performed at the Emerald City Comicon with the Bushwick Book Club last Sunday, I still have comics on the brain. A while back, the Seattle Comic Book Store Mega Kingpin, Brian Meredith (owner of about a million comic book stores and founding member of the Emerald City Comicon), commissioned WE to make a song about the book he and his daughter, Mackenzie Meredith, write titled The Adventures of Doctor Zombie. It is a wonderful book. There are three issues published to date, and every time a new issue comes out he sends us autographed copies. Oh, the perks of rockstardom. Sometimes after a stressful band practice, WE like to relax by cuddling up with our favorite undead hero (as pictured above).

About Doctor Zombie:

In an effort to bring about a cure for death, Doctor Archibald Zombie was turned into his namesake by a terrible lab accident, leaving him changed into a brand new version of the undead. Such a horrific accident would have broken a lesser man, but not Doctor Zombie. He just dusted himself off and got back to work.

With his faithful assistant Marigold Murray at his side, Doctor Zombie continues his life just as before: performing experiments and fighting evil in the name of science and humanity. As a consultant for the Roulette City Hall and Police Department, Doctor Zombie is called in for cases that the DHI can’t handle or are too busy with some other catastrophe. He also works as a private consultant for anyone who needs his help.

Doctor Zombie is written by Mackenzie Meredith and Brian Meredith, with artwork by Erik Thompson.

The Blue Moon is the best dive bar in all of Seattle and, believe it or not, it has been around now for 78 years. WE have played the Blue Moon about a million times so it is only fitting that WE be a part of their 78th anniversary celebrations. The Bushwick Book Club Seattle is bringing to you original music inspired by the graphic novel Watchmen, and I will be one of the talented people performing this night. Created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons in the mid 80s, this book is highly regarded as one of the most important comic books ever made. I read it, I thought it was pretty good, now I’ve got some songs to write. Gasp! The big show is only a few short days away and I haven’t even started working on them yet. What am I to do? Double Gasp!

I think I may be over gasped.

I have personally read the book. Some parts were outstanding but mostly it was a chore. The time has come for me to take my inspiration by the horns and write a couple songs, which will hopefully be less of a chore. Not a bad way to spend the weekend.

If your weekend was anything like mine, you spent the majority of your time in your bed fighting off the flu. Woooo! Party! Speaking of parties, here is a song about going to a party and meeting a guy, who at first seems all right, but then he starts bumming everyone out because all he wants to do is talk about is his stupid heart attack. You don’t care about his heart attack, nobody does. You keep trying to politely change the subject and remove yourself from the conversation, but to no avail. Despite your genuine disinterest, the guy just won’t shut up. The party is ruined. What a jerk.

I should also mention that this song features sax master Galen Green on the jazz sax.
